(Whitewater Township, Oh.) – A crash seriously injured a woman and shut down a portion of Lawrenceburg Road in Whitewater Township Thursday morning.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies say at about 4:40 a.m. a 1999 Nissan Altima driven by Alexis Anderson, 27, of North Bend, was heading northbound in the 3800 block of Lawrenceburg Road when she lost control.

Anderson’s vehicle traveled across the opposite lane before leaving the left side of the road and into a grassy shoulder where it struck a utility pole on the passenger side.

Firefighters with the Whitewater Township Fire Department responded and extricated Anderson from the wrecked car by mechanical means.

Anderson was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, but due to her serious injuries she was then transported to UC Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition.

Deputies said alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.  Anderson was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck. The accident remains under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit.

The crash forced the closure of Lawrenceburg Road for about two hours Thursday morning.
