Excessive Heat Warning As Temps Soar Past 100
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – To say the heat is excessive would be accurate.
The National Weather Service has an Excessive Heat Warning in effect for the entire tri-state now through 8:00 p.m. Saturday.
Temperatures Thursday will reach 101 degrees. The heat index, which factors in the 70 percent relative humidity, will have it feeling like a scorching 110, according to the weather service.
“The long duration of this heat wave will make it particularly dangerous due to the cumulative effects of exposure to the heat. Heat stroke, heat exhaustion and other heat related illnesses will be possible, especially if you spend a significant amount of time outdoors. People still without power due to the recent widespread storms will be more susceptible to the heat,” the NWS said in a statement.
The high Friday could hit 103 and Saturday’s temperature could reach 101. Overnight temperatures will cool into the mid- to lower 70s.
