Excise Police Swarm College Campuses

(Bloomington, Ind.) – Indiana State Excise Police made a total of 134 arrests at three different college towns over the weekend.

The excise officers were around campuses as students returned to campus at Indiana University, Purdue University, and Ball State University. The agency said the effort was to promote public safety.

Seventy-four of the arrests were in Bloomington on 125 charges. Another 47 occurred in Muncie on 71 charges. Thirteen arrests occurred in West Lafayette. Charges included minor consumption, providing alcohol to minors, and false ID.

Excise police have been active at colleges this month. The weekend of August 15 and 16, excise police announced 71 arrests in Muncie.
