Facade Improvements Bring New Life To Downtown Aurora Buildings

(Aurora, Ind.) – Several buildings in Aurora are receiving face-lifts thanks to the city’s downtown revitalization plan.
The City of Aurora Façade Improvement Matching Grant Program will allow for over $200,000 worth of improvements to 18 buildings in downtown Aurora, including 15 commercial buildings, two residences and one church.
The improvements include exterior façade improvements, roof replacement, windows, awnings, tuck-pointing, painting, signage and awning installation.
Applicants who have or will receive façade improvements are: Combs Pizza, Denmur Law, Riverside Tile & Marble, Third & Main Restaurant, Great Crescent Brewery, Hippie Bob, CJ’s Liquor, Aurora First United Methodists Church Inc., Marty Rahe, Tequilas, Weber Sports, Jim Rector, Frank Linkmeyer – Classy Cars, Leisa Burns, Personally Yours and Mr. & Mrs. Jarvis.
The city’s downtown revitalization strategic focus for 2016 includes a proposed $64,000 street light project on 2nd Street and a $136,000 sidewalk replacement project.
The City of Aurora also plans to complete more facade improvements in 2017 with an additional $50,000 allocated towards the Façade Improvement matching Grant Program.
