(Holton, Ind.) – Holton’s fire chief has resigned.

Gabe Cruser was arrested in North Vernon on Saturday, August 12 on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Paraphernalia.

The Versailles Republican newspaper reports that Cruser has resigned as chief of the Otter Creek Volunteer Fire Department. A spokesperson for the department told the newspaper that fellow firefighters suspected drug use by Cruser, and had planned a drug test for him, but he was arrested before that test could happen.

Fire department assistant chiefs David Franklin and Levi Speer will take over chief responsibilities together, according to the newspaper.
