(Florence, Ky.) – A new Kroger store in the tri-state opens Thursday.

The new Kroger Marketplace on Mall Road in Florence welcomes its first customers at 7:00 a.m. A $10 gift card will be given to the first 300 customers to venture into the store.

Florence Mayor Diane Whalen and Reds voice Marty Brennaman will participate in a ribbon cutting at 8:00 a.m. Brennaman will be signing autographs for fans from 8:00-10:00 a.m. The Reds’ mascot will be in store on Friday, March 18 from 2:00-6:00 p.m.

Kroger’s newest Marketplace features a deli, bakery, meat, floral shop, and more. On top of the expanded selection of items, customers will find that the new store is also the site of a Kroger Fuel Center, where fuel points earned on purchases at the store can be redeemed.

Employees from the old, smaller Kroger store on Mall Road – which opened in 1977 – will keep their jobs at the new location just a few hundred feet down the road. In addition, the new Marketplace will create more than 250 new jobs.

Construction on the new store began in February 2013. It is the second Kroger Marketplace to open in Boone County, joining the Hebron location on North Bend Road.
