(Dearborn County, Ind.) – The former chairman of the Dearborn County Republican Party has been chosen to fill a vacancy on county council.

Allen W. Goodman was selected during a Republican caucus held on November 12. He was sworn in by Dearborn Superior Court II Judge Sally McLaughlin on November 13.

“He is an excellent fit for this position and I have no doubt that his votes on Council will be in the best interest of all the people of our community,” said Lynn Deddens, Chairwoman of the Dearborn County Republican Party.

Goodman, who lives in Bright, will serve the remainder of the term on council for Randy Lyness. Lyness resigned from county council last month after being selected as the new state representative for House District 68.

According to Deddens, Goodman has extensive business experience and has served on the Miller Township Advisory Board, the Tri-Township Water Board, the Sherriff’s Merit Board, and the Dearborn County Board of Health.
