indiana-state-fair-midway-sign.jpg(Indianapolis, Ind.) – The “signature food” at this year’s Indiana State Fair will be a beverage.

Typically known for its heartstopper of a signature food, this year the state fair is going a new direction. The Fruit Twister Shake-Up combines fresh lemons, oranges, pineapple and strawberries with ice and water.

Of course, the traditional fried food and other options will also be available. Special dishes include the funnel cake ice cream sandwich, the cheeseburger basket on a stick, the colossal grilled cheese sandwich with a salted chocolate caramel shake, and the mac daddy macaroni and cheese topped with pulled barbecue turkey.

The fair happens August 1-17 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis in what has been dubbed the “Year of the Coliseum”. The fairgrounds coliseum – now called the Shane Co. Coliseum – was recently remodeled.

Live entertainment at the fair includes Lynyrd Skynyrd on July 31, Robin Thicke on August 1, Phillip Phillips on August 5, Pitbull on August 8, and Hunter Hayes on August 9.
