(Madison, Ind.) – Indiana fugitive Wade Meisberger was taken into police custody Tuesday night after more than three weeks on the run.

Meisberger, of Madison, was arrested at the Madison Mobile Village. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail just after 11:00 p.m.

The 40-year-old made national headlines when, police believe, he tried to fake his death by jumping from a bridge in Carrollton, Kentucky on June 21. He then began posting YouTube videos and Facebook messages online bragging about his fugitive status.

“Contrary what is being published on the local gossip forums and rumors, I am not in custody, my youtube channel is NOT down- in fact close to over 10000 hits now,” he posted on Facebook on Monday. “The Associated Press picked up the story and has slowly been spreading… although however biased and incorrect.”

Meisberger is a convicted murderer. He was featured on America’s Most Wanted after he killed a man and stole his car in Bloomington, Indiana in 1993. A judge sentenced Meisberger to 30 years in prison for the killing.

Since being released from prison in 2007, he has been on probation which was not set to expire until 2041. A warrant was issued for his arrest on probation violation after skipping a mandatory meeting and not registering his current address.
