(Undated) – Governor Mike Pence will recognize two high school seniors selected for the Indiana Mr. and Miss Math and Science honors.

One male and one female student will be selected for their performance in math and science. Each will receive a $2,000 Indiana CollegeChoice 529 Direct Savings Plan scholarship contribution.

The Indiana Mr. and Miss Math/Science awards will go to the most outstanding students in math and science. Academic performance in engineering and technology will be considered as well as extracurricular activities, research projects, and community service.

“The impact of math and science continues to transform our world every day and we want to recognize the very best math and science students in our state to honor them for their hard work,” said Pence. “I look forward to announcing the winners this spring and I know their academic achievements will inspire other students.”

Applications for the awards can be found at https://secure.in.gov/apps/mathscienceawards/ and will be accepted through 6:00 p.m. EDT on April 25th. Teachers, schools, and community organizations can nominate students. The nominations will be reviewed by a panel of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math experts.

The winners will be announced in May. The scholarship contribution can be added to the students’ existing 529 Plan. It may also be used to initiate a new plan.
