(Greendale, Ind.) – Greendale Police are working to solve a couple bold thefts which took place at two U.S. 50 auto dealerships.

Sgt. Kendle Davis says the thieves targeted vehicles at Haag Ford and Jeff Wyler Chrysler Jeep Dodge in the early morning hours Monday, September 18.

“At about 1:10 a.m. a white Ford van was stolen from Haag Ford’s lot. Then somewhere around 3:00, the same van was used to steal tires off of two Dodge Challengers on the lot at Jeff Wyler,” explains Davis.

The van taken from Haag Ford was a white Ford Econoline F-350 12-passenger van.

A black car was captured on video pulling into the Wyler lot earlier Monday morning. Two men got out and loosened lugnuts on the Challenger tires. They then left the dealership.

Later, the white van showed up. Video recording shows a single male get out of the van. He jacked up the Challengers, took off the tires, and placed them into the van. The two sports cars were left wheel-less.

“I guess the rims on the Dodge Challengers are about $400 per rim, plus a couple hundred dollars for the tires they have on them,” says Davis.

Davis said the department investigated an attempted theft of a pickup truck from Haag Ford last week. It is unclear it that case is related to Monday’s thefts.

Greendale Police have not announced the names of any suspects at this time. Anybody with information on the thefts is asked to call the Greendale Police Department at (812) 537-1321.
