(Batesville, Ind.) – A man has pleaded guilty for his role in a fatal drug overdose in Batesville.

The Batesville Herald-Tribune reports that Ronald Stirn, 56, has pleaded guilty to Maintaining a Common Nuisance (level 6 felony) and Dealing in a Schedule IV Controlled Substance (class A misdemeanor) on September 12. He faces up to 2 ½ years in prison when he is sentenced in Franklin County Court on October 17.

That would be nearly two years to the day of the overdose which claimed the life of 24-year-old Alyssa Heppner at Stirn’s Batesville apartment on October 23, 2015.

Prosecutors say Stirn gave Heppner prescription drugs in exchange for sexual favors.

It was another woman who had given Heppner the fatal dose of heroin. Virginia Hooten, 23, of Milford, Ohio, was sentenced to nine years with three years suspended to probation after pleading guilty to Dealing in a Narcotic Drug (level 4 felony) last May.

Stirn’s attorney told the court that he has been in drug rehabilitation since December, according to the newspaper.
