Guns Out-Box Hoses At Charity Event

(Switzerland County, Ind.) – Local police officers and firefighters stepped into the ring Saturday for the Third Annual Guns and Hoses charity boxing event at Belterra Casino Resort & Spa.
The Guns team won the belt for the third year in a row, winning 11 of the 14 matches.
In the first round, Tim Hamer of the Lawrenceburg Fire Department went up against fellow firefighter Matt Helton of Colerain, Ohio. Hamer lost his round. Officer Troy Cochran of Lawrenceburg went up against fellow police officer William Samad of Boone County in the third round. Cochran won his round.
The fourth round featured Roger Houston of the Lawrenceburg Police Department went up against Nick Rainey of the Taylor Mill Fire Department. Houston won.
The event also featured its first fight between two women. Jessica Moening with the Colerain Fire Department went up against June Brackett of the Indiana Gaming Commission. Moening dominated the fight, knocking Brackett down three times in the first two rounds.
The amount of money raised for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southeastern Indiana by the event is still being counted.
