(Petersburg, Ky.) – The week is getting off to a wet and wild start.

Downpours which began early Monday morning were causing some minor ponding issues on tri-state area roadways. One of the biggest trouble spots has been Interstate 275 eastbound on the Kentucky side of the Carroll C. Cropper Bridge, where water is known to cascade down the steep grade.

Multiple vehicles were involved in a wreck there at around 5:30 a.m. The wreck was still blocking the left lane as of 6:45. There is no word on possible injuries. Motorists were reporting a 5-10 minute delay.

The National Weather Service’s Monday forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms with patchy fog through the morning. A chance of showers and thunderstorms will persist Monday afternoon and evening. Some storms could be severe, according to meteorologists.

Monday’s high is expected to be around 83, with an unseasonably cool high temperature of 74 expected Tuesday.
