(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A landmark event in the construction of Lawrenceburg’s newest landmark will take place later this week.

One of the final beams will be raised and placed at the top of the Lawrenceburg Event Center and Hotel on Friday, September 20. The building towers nine stories over the Ohio River levee.

Messer Construction, the firm overseeing the event center project, says the construction crews working on the hotel will sign the beam, along with a few city dignitaries. Representatives from neighboring businesses have also been invited to participate in the beam signing.

The beam to top off the hotel will be raised sometime between 11:30 a.m. and noon.

The $49 million, 220,000 square foot Lawrenceburg Hotel and Event Center is expected to open in the first quarter of 2014.
