(Aurora, Ind.) – Quick work by a neighbor and the Aurora Fire Department may have saved a family’s home Thursday morning.

Aurora firefighters were called to a structure fire at 7035 Sherman Drive at about 4:00 a.m. when a neighbor spotted the flames.

The neighbor and residents put a garden hose on the fire to control the flames. Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the blaze.

The porch and some siding on the house were damaged to an estimated cost of $10,000. There were no injuries.

Lane said the cause appears to be accidental, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
