Hughes Out As L’burg Mayor’s Assistant
By Mike Perleberg
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Changes are being made in the Lawrenceburg mayor’s office even before a new mayor moves in at the start of 2016.
On Wednesday, the Lawrenceburg Board of Works voted to discontinue the office of the mayor’s assistant, said city marketing director Kelly Will.
Mayor Dennis Carr was among the three Board of Works members voting to do away with the position. Two voted against the move.
Grant Hughes has been serving in the mayor’s assistant role since Carr took office in 2012. He will also no longer serve in the role as the executive director of the Lawrenceburg Redevelopment Commission, Will said.
The mayor’s office did not provide a reason for eliminating the mayor’s assistant position. Hughes was not immediately available for comment at his home phone.
The city budgeted about $87,929 for the mayor’s assistant and redevelopment director in 2015, but that salary for 2016 was reduced to $45,371 from the city’s riverboat fund.
Why in the world would the mayor and the board be making personnel changes now??? Reading about the Burg’s local government is awesome!! It’s better than reality T.V.!!! Dysfunctional, idiotic, possibly corrupt, whats not to like!!
they were making around 43.5k a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats over 21 dollars an hour, sign me up for public office lol. i want to know how many hours a week each had to actually work as well,
This town is LAUGHABLE …..what I find so funny (really sad) is that Mario does NOTHING and yet gets paid and votes Grant out, Kelly had no marketing experience and the city pays her to market the Event Center ONLY and these are high paying positions. Mike Clark hired for the building the vent center and now that it is done he is still there harassing businesses to make himself look needed and the list goes onof over paid stuffed shirts that do NOTHING and the MILLIONS that have been lost to bad grants and loans and wasted on fall fest and “character training” for city employees along with the $1 a year health care costs and the clothes and car allowances and the list goes on and on…I am so disgusted by this city and have lost all hope for it
Vicki Gentry Reiter MOVE!
She’s right though. That town is laughable. There’s so many crooked things going on and everyone turns the other way. I don’t even live in lawrenceburg and know it’s messed up. It’s all political and about the money. I realize Lawrenceburg has Hollywood and all but the outer cities don’t really have much to show from that. Nor do the school systems outside of Lawrenceburg. I live in Dearborn county but my kids don’t go to any schools Dearborn county schools. The money should be used for all of Dearborn not just Lawrenceburg. If they’re so called still receiving funds from Hollywood anyways.
