(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Indiana turkey hunters have been busy.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says hunters harvested more than 13,000 wild turkeys during the 2017 spring hunting season.

That’s good for a seven percent increase from 2016. It’s also the third-highest spring turkey harvest on record.

Indiana’s youth turkey hunting season was April 22-23. The regular spring turkey season was April 26-May 14.

The IDNR says weather did not appear to be a limiting factor, despite large amounts of rainfall and flooding.
