INDOT Plans 30-Day Closure On US 52 For Bridge Preservation Project

(Metamora, Ind.) – Indiana Department of Transportation officials have announced their plans to overlay two bridge decks in Franklin County.

A 30-day closure has been scheduled on U.S. Highway 52 at Metamora beginning this September.

INDOT has contracted RAM Construction to complete the $307,285 bridge preservation project. Bridge deck overlays will be installed on the following bridges:

  • S. 52 over Whitewater River, a 4-span, 680-foot-long structure located 0.13 miles east of State Road 229.
  • S. 52 over Whitewater Canal, a 3-span, 132-foot-long reinforced concrete slab structure located 0.29 miles east of SR 229.

During the closure, U.S. 52 eastbound traffic will be detoured around the work zone through Batesville via SR 229, I-74 and SR 1. The westbound detour will go through Connersville via SR 1, SR 44 and SR 121.

The contract completion date is October 31.
