(Boone County, Ky.) – Motorists will want to be aware of an upcoming project in northern Kentucky.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 6 announced Thursday a bridge expansion joint replacement project on four interstate bridges along Interstate 71/75 southbound.

The project will occur between Dixie Highway and the I-71/75/275 interchange, and will require lane closures over two weekends.

Closures will be in place starting Friday, April 28 at 10:00 p.m. until Monday, May 1 at 7:00 a.m. One lane will be open from 10:00 p.m. Friday until 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Two lanes will be open for traffic from 6:00 a.m. Saturday to 11:00 p.m. Sunday. Then, from 11:00 p.m. Sunday until 7:00 a.m. Monday, one lane will be open.

The same lane restrictions will take place from May 5-8. Additionally, both the Buttermilk Pike exit and entrance ramps will be closed.

The project is expected to be completed on Monday, May 8 at 7:00 a.m.

The work is expected to have major impacts on travel times, and motorists are encouraged to find alternative southbound routes while work is in progress.

All work is weather dependent.
