Intoxicated Man Stopped From Driving With Kids

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A visibly intoxicated Versailles man was arrested when he allegedly attempted to leave an auto parts store in a vehicle with his four young children on September 13.


Ralph S. Taylor III was witnessed by employees at Advanced Auto Parts in Lawrenceburg to be impaired and attempting to leave the store with his four children in his Dodge Durango. Employees informed police and stalled Taylor until officers arrived.


According court documents, when the Indiana State Police arrived on scene, they witnessed Taylor to be in the driver’s seat of his vehicle with his four children attempting to leave the Advanced Auto parking lot.


Taylor was given a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was taken into custody while officers searched the vehicle. Allegedly discovered during the search were hydrocodone and Xanax pills along with a pen tube used allegedly used to ingest the pills.


Taylor is charged with four counts of Neglect of a Dependent (Class D felony), Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance (Class D felony), Possession of Paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor), and Public Intoxication (Class B misdemeanor).
