(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Community members may want to have a handful of change ready when visiting local businesses this weekend.

Lawrenceburg Mayor Kelly Mollaun has officially declared the upcoming weekend as Tootsie Rool Drive Weekend.

The Knights of Columbus Council 1231 has the key to the City, and will be out collecting donations for mentally handicapped and mentally challenged children across the country. The annual Tootsie Roll Drive was created with the idea of improving challenged children’s quality of life.

K of C has participated in the Tootsie Roll campaign since its inception and has collected over $242,000 to date.

The money raised has been donated to local facilities such as: New Horizons Rehabilitation Center in Batesville, R.O.D. (Ripley, Ohio, Dearborn) Special Education Co-operative of Sunman, ARC of Dearborn County, and the Batesville Deanery Special Adult Religious Education Program.

The K of C will be out Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14 at various places of business. You can find them in their yellow vests.
