(Osgood, Ind.) – An Indiana State Police K9 helped to arrest a wanted man over the weekend.

Trooper Chris Richey and his K9 partner Heiko were called late Friday night to assist Osgood Police and Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies in finding a man who had fled them.

The Osgood Police and deputies had set up a perimeter in the area. After about 30 minutes of searching within that perimeter, Heiko located the suspect hiding in a yard behind a residence on Cardinal Street.

Taken into custody was Andrew Hill, 19, of Osgood. He was treated by EMTs at the jail for a minor dog bite he received during the apprehension.

Hill is charged with Probation Violation for Theft, Possession of Marijuana, and Resisting Law Enforcement.

“Osgood officers and Ripley County deputies did an excellent job by immediately establishing a perimeter to contain the suspect until Heiko and I arrived at the scene,” Richey said.
