(Greendale, Ind.) – On the first anniversary of her death, Lauren Hill’s hometown will dedicate a street named for her.

#22 Lauren Hill Lane – formerly Gages Lane between Sunset Drive and Nowlin Avenue – is located near the Hill family home and her final resting place at Greendale Cemetery.

The City of Greendale and the Hill family will participate in a dedication of the renamed street on Sunday, April 10 at 3:22 p.m. The dedication will be held at the basketball courts at the Greendale city park. The public is invited.

Sunday will mark one year since Hill passed away following a brave fight against brain cancer. The Lawrenceburg High School graduate and Mount St. Joseph University basketball player made international headlines when she shrugged off the terminal diagnosis to play college basketball in 2014. Efforts related to Hill have raised more than $2.2 million for The Cure Starts Now Foundation.

This Saturday, April 9, a documentary about Lauren Hill’s life produced by Local 12 will be premiered at Greendale Cinema. Tickets for the showing in cinema’s five theaters have sold out.
