(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – The City of Lawrenceburg is spreading the wealth once again.

City Council approved a number of applications for the Lawrenceburg Community Grant Program through the Dearborn Community Foundation on May 19.

About $2 million was awarded to local schools. Lawrenceburg Community Schools, South Dearborn Community Schools, and Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools each received $539,276. St. Lawrence School in Lawrenceburg was awarded $32,171.

Other grants of varying amounts went to organizations including Special Olympics, Aurora Lions, Dearborn County 4-H, Dearborn Adult Center, The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department and Youth Encouragement Services.

“We have really great programs in our community and I am happy that we have the funding to support them currently,” said Lawrenceburg Mayor Dennis Carr in a news release. “Although forecasts indicate a continued decrease in gaming revenue, I see the importance of providing the best opportunities for our youth through our education system while lessening the financial burden on parents.”

Does anyone know where/how the grant money given to schools is being spent?  Is there a list of expenditures?  Just curious.
