(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – The gym floor is no more.

This past weekend, crews at Lawrenceburg High School began cutting up the basketball court at George “Bud” Bateman Gymnasium. The 50-year-old old gym – suffering from structural issues – is being prepared for demolishing so that a new $11 million gymnasium can be built in its place.

Those sections of flooring are being sold to raise money for the school district.

The letters from the floor spelling “LAWRENCEBURG” were sold during a special silent auction on Sunday.

Some gym floor sections still remain for sale. Contact the Lawrenceburg High School athletic office for information, (812) 537-7200.
