(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A Lawrenceburg man has been arrested on multiple drug charges after reporting an alleged burglary at his home.

Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the alleged burglary in progress on October 2 at a home on the 5200 block of State Road 48.

Deputies say the caller, identified as Shawn Banks, 35, advised law enforcement that there were people in his basement, and that he was also locked in the basement.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies had to use force to enter the home due to all the doors being locked. Deputies say they located banks in a closet with a hypodermic needle near him.

While searching the home for other individuals, deputies say they uncovered two glass smoking pipes, approximately 12 hand rolled marijuana cigarettes, two baggies containing a white powdery crystal-like substance, and other drug paraphernalia.

Banks was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine in an Amount Greater than 10 Grams but Less than 28 Grams (Level 4 felony), Possession of Marijuana (Class B misdemeanor), Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C misdemeanor), Possession of a Syringe (Level 6 felony) and Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Level 6 felony).

He is currently being held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.
