L’burg’s “Downtown Action Agenda” Site Visit Scheduled
Press release from the City of Lawrenceburg
The City of Lawrenceburg and its Downtown Process Committee have been hard at work setting up focus groups and issue sessions, and gathering available studies, maps, and other vital downtown information. All this work is the first step in laying the groundwork for a Downtown Action Agenda, which will be defined by the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT) and national downtown experts HyettPalma as part of IACT’s Indiana Downtown® program. The next step will be a site visit to Lawrenceburg by HyettPalma. This visit will be held from August 11th until August 15th.
“We want to make sure that we present HyettPalma with all pertinent information regarding downtown. This background information will be part of the framework they will use to define our Downtown Action Agenda, which will be specifically tailored to our community and designed to improve downtown’s economy.” -Grant Hughes, Redevelopment Director
“The Downtown Action Agenda will be based on the community’s downtown vision and a downtown market analysis completed by HyettPalma. The Downtown Action Agenda will recommend an aggressive course of action designed to capture downtown’s market opportunities and attain the community’s downtown vision.” –Mayor Carr
“During the site visit, HyettPalma will moderate a Community Vision Session on Tuesday, August 12th from 7pm until 8:30pm, 4th floor, Ivy Tech Riverfront Campus. This session is open to the public and is an opportunity for everyone to participate and voice their vision for downtown’s future. We welcome everyone in the community to attend.” –Kelly Will, Marketing Director
Indiana Downtown® is offered by IACT in partnership with HyettPalma, Inc. Indiana Downtown® is based on the highly successful America Downtown® technical assistance program, which was offered by the National League of Cities and HyettPalma from 1992 to 2012 and continues to be offered by HyettPalma. IACT was the first state league in the U.S. to replicate that program and offer it at the state level. For more information, contact Grant Hughes, [email protected] or 812-532-3550.
