Logan Lawrence speaks at the Cruisin’ for a Cure ALS Car Show in May of 2017.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A Lawrenceburg High School senior has been nationally recognized for his volunteer work in the community.

Each year, the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards selects 102 student volunteers in grades 5-12 to earn $1,000 awards, silver medallions and a trip to the nation’s capital.

Although he didn’t come away as one of two state honorees, Lawrenceburg senior Logan Lawrence was one of six distinguished finalists for the award in the State of Indiana.

Lawrence will receive an engraved bronze medallion for his impressive community service, which saw him organize the Cruisin’ For a Cure ALS Car Show in May of 2017. The event featured more than 425 entries and raised more than $15,000 for the Indiana Chapter of the ALS Association.

The car show was inspired by his late grandfather, Carlos, who had ALS. Logan plans to make the car show happen again this year.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, now in its 23rd year, is conducted by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
