Indiana Lieutenant Governor Eric Holcomb.
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – State Representative Cindy Ziemke (R-Batesville) and Dearborn County Commissioner Kevin Lynch are among those coming out in support of Indiana Lieutenant Governor to be the GOP’s gubernatorial nominee.
Holcomb is jockeying for the support among the Indiana Republican State Committee, which will select a nominee to replace Governor Mike Pence. The governor gave up his re-election bid in order to become presidential candidate Donald Trump’s running mate earlier this month.
Also seeking the Republican nomination are Indiana Congresswoman Susan Brooks (IN-4) and Congressman Todd Rokita (IN-5).
Holcomb’s campaign issued a press release which included a number of endorsements from fellow Republicans across the state.
Dearborn County Commissioner Lynch said he appreciates Holcomb’s commitment to serving all Hoosiers.
“Eric’s professionalism while maintaining his local charm proves to me that Eric will never forget his roots. I have great confidence that Eric will serve all Hoosiers with the highest integrity. I believe that he will approach this job with humility and pride of public service as well as the commitment and determination to do great things for our State,” Lynch said.
Ziemke’s endorsement comes after he visited the 40th annual Freudenfest in Oldenburg this past weekend.
“Eric is a true man of the people and one of the most genuine public servants I’ve ever met. I support Eric as our next Governor. It will be an honor to serve with him at the State House,” Ziemke said.
Others endorsing Holcomb include State Senator Brandt Hershman, State Representative Jim Lucas, State Representative Kevin Mahan, and Sean Keefer, former deputy chief of staff to Governor Mike Pence.
“I am honored to stand alongside these outstanding Hoosiers from across Indiana, just as I have stood alongside them as an advisor to Governor Mitch Daniels and Senator Dan Coats, State Chairman of the Indiana Republican Party and now our state’s Lt. Governor,” said Holcomb. “We have done a lot of great things together and as Governor I know we will continue Indiana’s progress and take our state to the next level.”
