BASEBALL

Jac-Cen-Del 14, Rising Sun 7 – JCD’s potent offense was highlighted by Ben Harlemert’s 3-for-5 with a double, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Michael Flint, Cody Campbell and Reuben Benham each had a pair of RBIs. Rising Sun was led by Zach Martini, who went 2-for-3 with a double, 4 RBI and a run.

South Ripley 10, Shawe Memorial 0 – South Ripley’s Cory Walker was dominant on the mound. He pitched all 5.0 innings with 4 strikeouts while giving up just 3 hits and a walk. Walker also had a double, single and 2 RBI at the plate. With JCD’s defeat of Rising Sun, South Ripley wins the Ohio River Valley Conference championship.

GIRLS TENNIS

IHSAA Sectional 59 at South Dearborn – First Round

East Central 4, Milan 1 – East Central will meet Batesville in the sectional semi-finals on Thursday, May 18.

South Dearborn 4, Lawrenceburg 1 – via SouthDearbornAthletics.com – In the first round of sectional, the Lady Knights came out on top with a 4-1 victory over the Lady Tigers from Lawrenceburg. Madison Fentress defeated Averi McMullen 6-3, 6-3 at number one singles. Sydney Yoe defeated Josie Denton 6-2, 6-1 at number two singles. Number three singles Madison Zoller battled Kirsten Mollaun but in the end fell 5-7, 4-6. Number one doubles team of Samantha Fisher and Skylar Lane beat Olivia Lamb and Celina Couch 6-0, 6-1. Number two doubles team of Brooklyn Cromer and Emily Seward won 6-4, 6-1 against Destiny Golden and Lauren Karsteter. South Dearborn will face Oldenburg Academy in the sectional semi-final match on Thursday, May 18.

 

IHSAA Sectional 11 at Connersville – First Round

Rushville 3, Connersville 2

Franklin County 5, Union County 0 – FC advances to play Rushville in the sectional championship march on Friday, May 19.

 

 

SOFTBALL

Rising Sun 1, Jac-Cen-Del 0 – Rising Sun freshman pitcher Sydney Pitts was the stopper. She went all 7.0 shutout innings with 5 Ks while allowing just 6 hits and 3 walks. Kyla Wilhite had a hit knocking in the only run of the game in the 4th inning.

Union County 7, Milan 6 – Milan senior Sierra Kern was 1-for-2 with a double and 2 RBI. Milan’s Lexi Wert went 6.2 innings in the start, allowing one earned run with 7 Ks.
