(Indianapolis, Ind.) – The Indiana Supreme Court and the Indiana Bar Foundation hosted a workshop for Indiana teachers in Indianapolis April 10th.

Over 80 teachers attended the workshop last week. The workshop was designed to help educators teach students about the court system. Problem-solving courts and the appellate process were a couple of the workshop sessions. Teachers also attended a Supreme Court oral argument, Nick McIlquam v. State. Justices and judges joined the teachers for lunch. After lunch, members of the press who cover the courts were featured in another workshop session.

Teachers were nominated earlier this year by judges and members of civic or legal organizations. The teachers nominated in Dearborn County include Bridger Klenke, Corey Lehn, Randy Dennis, Eric Ebrens, Brandon Lorton, Steve Lewis, and Mike Pratt. The teachers nominated in Ohio County are Jason Barth and Chris Jones.

The Indiana Supreme Court provides civic education materials and programming to teachers through its Courts in the Classroom outreach project.
