(Cincinnati, Oh.) – Yet another local war hero will be honored by the Cincinnati Reds.

Andy Ziegler will be recognized as the Cincinnati Bell Reds’ Hometown Hero on Sunday, September 24 when the Reds host the Boston Red Sox.

Ziegler, a William Henry Harrison High School graduate, served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1972.

During that time, he was stationed in Vietnam at Tan Son Nhut Air Base near Saigon.

Ziegler received two Purple Hearts for being wounded in battle on two separate occasions – once by enemy fire and once by shrapnel.

Following his military career, Ziegler was instrumental in getting State Road 1 in southeast Indiana designated as a Purple Heart Highway.

He currently resides in Dearborn County with his wife, Peggy, and has three sons and three grandchildren.
