(Indianapolis, Ind.) – If a recent straw poll is any indication, Luke Messer appears to be the favorite to win his party’s primary for U.S. Senate.
On Saturday, Messer won the Indiana Republican Party’s U.S. Senate Straw Poll, coming in 20 points ahead of his five primary opponents.
Messer received 45 percent of the vote from more than 320 Congress of Counties attendees, followed by Todd Rokita at 25 percent. Mike Braun, Mark Hurt, Andrew Takami and Andrew Horning all received 11 percent or less of the vote.
To date, Messer has won all three straw polls taken in the U.S. Senate primary race, including the Grassroots Conservatives straw poll and the IndyPolitics poll.
“We’re excited by the momentum in our campaign and the grassroots support we’re receiving from all across the state. Together, we will win this election, defeat Joe Donnelly and put the broken U.S. Senate back to work for Hoosiers,” Messer said.
