(Morris, Ind.) – A crash in Ripley County sent a man to the hospital in critical condition Monday evening.

A 2008 Ford Focus driven by Kristin Duncan, of Sunman, pulled out from County Road 1150 North onto County Road 500 East near Morris in the path of a 1997 Dodge Ram pickup truck. The two vehicles collided, sending the pickup truck rolling, said sheriff’s deputies.

The pickup driver, Nathan Schutte, 36, of Pendleton, Ind., was critically injured and had to be rushed to University Hospital in Cincinnati by aircare for head and internal injuries. Schutte’s two children, ages two and four, were treated and released from Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville as a precautionary measure.

Duncan, 46, was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Batesville Police, Batesville Fire & EMS, and the Morris Fire Department.
