Indiana Conservation Officers say they received a tip Tuesday evening stating that a 41-year-old man from Beech Grove, Indiana was suicidal and armed at the park in Ripley County. Officers responded to the park and located the man’s vehicle, but he was not around.

The park was closed to visitors for safety purposes overnight.

Wednesday morning, officers began to search for the man and found him by the swimming pool parking lot and restroom. When asked to surrender, the man retreated into the bathroom.

The man later shot himself. He was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
