Man Jailed For Gratuitous Attack At Fall Fest

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A Dillsboro man is accused of an unprovoked attack on two other men at Lawrenceburg Fall Fest last Friday night.


Matthew T. Dew, 29, is charged with Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Class C felony), Battery Causing Injury (Class A misdemeanor), Resisting Law Enforcement (Class A misdemeanor) and Public Intoxication (Class B misdemeanor).


Multiple witnesses told Lawrenceburg Police officers that Dew approached two men in the Fall Fest beer garden, punching one in the face and throwing the other into the ground. Dew attempted to flee after the attack, but was caught.


One of the victims was hospitalized. Doctors told police that the injuries to the victim’s face may have left permanent damage.


Dew is currently held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center. The judge in Dearborn Superior Court II has ordered a $75,000 surety and $1,000 cash bond.
