(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A mother fighting cancer will get a helping hand from an event dedicated to the memory of another mom who left the world much too soon.
Mandy Deters McCarty was an employee of Eagle Country 99.3. She was on maternity leave when she died of an infection suddenly on June 24, 2012. Just two weeks earlier, she had given birth to the second daughter belonging to her and husband Michael McCarty. Mandy was 28.

For the sixth straight year, Mandy’s family and friends have organized the Mandy Deters McCarty Memorial Benefit and Sand Volleyball Tournament. It will be held Sunday, September 17 at Willie’s Sports Café in Hidden Valley.
Part of the event’s proceeds will go to a scholarship fund for Mandy’s daughters, Nora and Aubrey. The other portion of the funds raised will again aid Beth Dieselberg.
The Cincinnati resident and East Central High School graduate was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in 2015. Dieselberg, 36, was the recipient of the volleyball tournament’s gift last year. However, she has continued to go through intensive and costly treatment including radiation and chemotherapy.
The benefit and volleyball tournament will begin at 9:00 a.m. Sunday. Find more information about the event on Facebook.
