Close-up of Golf Club and Golf Ball(Rising Sun, Ind.) – It was a Shiners kind of day at The Vineyard Golf Course on Saturday, May 24.

The Rising Sun boys golf team claimed the 2014 Ohio River Valley Conference Golf Tournament championship, and a bunch of superlatives with it.

The team standings from the tourney saw the Shiners lead the 18-hole competition with a 337. Milan was second with 358, Jac-Cen-Del third with 365, Southwestern fourth at 380, and Switzerland County fifth at 388. Shawe Memorial and South Ripley did not have enough players – both had three out of the necessary five – to qualify for a team score.

Milan’s Travis Butte earned the tournament medalist honor with an individual low score of 75. Rising Sun’s Bryce Murray was the next closest at 77.

Murray, however, did receive recognition as the ORVC Mental Attitude Award winner in boys golf for 2014.

Rising Sun coach Brian Graham was voted as the ORVC Boys Golf Coach of the Year.

The following players were named to the 2014 ORVC All-Conference Boys Golf Team by way of their performance at the conference tournament. The individuals will be recognized at the ORVC Spring Banquet on Thursday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Pines Restaurant in Madison.
