New Round Of Grants From Rising Sun Regional Foundation

rising-sun-regional-foundation-logo(Rising Sun, Ind.) – The Rising Sun Regional Foundation (RSRF) awarded a total of $226,418 in 14 new grants at its March 26, 2014 meeting.  These grants included:

  • $30,000 to the Rising Sun-Ohio County Community School Corporation toward the purchase of devices, carts, and covers related to its 1:1 technology project;
  • $20,000 to the City of Rising Sun toward a signage and banner program;
  • $15,000 to the Rising Sun & Ohio County Senior Citizens Housing toward the purchase of property to aid in the future growth of senior housing in Rising Sun;
  • $15,000 to the Ohio County Circuit Court toward the purchase of hardware and software programs and equipment to provide audiovisual court hearings;
  • $25,000 to the City of Aurora toward the purcahse of a Kubota tractor and trailer to assist with grounds maintenance for the parks department;
  • $3,290 to Aurora Little League toward the installation of a scoreboard;
  • $3,628 to St. John Lutheran School (Aurora) toward the replacements of basketball backboards in its gymnasium;
  • $2,000 to Giving Hearts a Hand toward cardiac screenings for student athletes in southeastern Indiana;
  • $15,000 to Sunman Area Voluntary Endeavors to assist with roof decking failure issues;
  • $15,000 to the Batesville Board of Parks & Recreation toward the purchase of items to help address safety issues at its baseball/softball complex;
  • $2,500 to the Ripley County Tourism Bureau toward expenses with its 2014 Friendship Music Festival;
  • $30,000 to the Tyson Community Advancement Foundation toward a local match for a state grant to renovate the façade of the historic Tyson Auditorium;
  • $20,000 to the Holton Community Water Corporation toward the purchase of a new computer monitoring system and upgrades to its water tower altitude pit; and
  • $30,000 to the Ripley County Commissioners toward the purchase of three stainless steel dump bodies for three new dump trucks to be used by the highway department.

The Rising Sun Regional Foundation was created in 1994 by the City of Rising Sun in conjunction with the development of the Grand Victoria Casino and Resort by the Hyatt Corporation.  The foundation began its grantmaking program in early 1997, which it has continued to implement. It is now funded by the Rising Star Casino Resort, owned by Full House Resorts, Inc., which makes monthly contributions to the foundation based on a percentage of its Adjusted Gross Revenue.
