(Batesville, Ind.) – Folks in the Batesville school district are invited to get a look at the recently completed renovations to Batesville High School.

An open house will be held at the school Saturday, December 2 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Guided tours will be given by students with the Kiwanis Student Leadership Academy.

A dedication ceremony will take place in the auditorium at 6:30.

The Batesville Community Schools Board of Trustees approved $10 million in improvements at the high school in 2015 to help address growing enrollment in the district. Enrollment has grown from 1,949 in the 2005-2006 school year to 2,181 in 2016-2017, according to Indiana Department of Education data.

The updates, done by contractors Bruns-Gutzwiller, Inc. and Nading, Inc., include expanded commons, weight room and wrestling areas, locker rooms, and restrooms.

Renovations have also been made to the high school’s performing arts center. Following the dedication, the redone space will host its first production: “Three Shows Till Christmas: A Homecoming Special.” According to the school, this performance will include two one acts by Pat Cook entitled “Last Stop ‘Til Christmas” and “‘Twas the Night Before the Night Before Christmas” and a one act by Jonathan Rand entitled “Check Please.”
