NKU President Warns Of Oncoming Budget Crunch
By Mike Perleberg
(Highland Heights, Ky.) – Northern Kentucky University is bracing for a significant hit to its budget.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that NKU President Geoffrey Mearns emailed students and staff Tuesday, warning that each department has been asked to plan for a five percent budget cut.
The university is expected to see an annual budget cut of up to $6 million as state lawmakers craft a new state budget amid limited tax revenues.
Mearns said increasing NKU’s enrollment will be key in avoiding additional reduction measures and keep tuition increases low.
