Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on the 18100 block of Hundley Road in Metamora around 4:10 p.m. Monday, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Brothers Douglas Kelley, 59, and Steven Michael Kelley, 42, both of Metamora, had been in a fight at Steven’s residence. Upon their arrival, officers found Steven Kelley shot in the hand.  He was transported by Franklin County EMS to Margaret Mary Health in Batesville for treatment of the gunshot wound.

Douglas Kelley was found in his home next door where deputies took him into custody without further incident. He was transported to Fayette Regional Hospital in Connersville for treatment of a laceration to his face.

Upon being released from the hospital, Douglas Kelley was transported to the Franklin County Security Center on the Charge of Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, a level 6 Felony.  If convicted of a level 6 Felony, Douglas Kelley could receive from six months to 2 ½ years in prison, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators said charges against Steven Kelley are pending as the incident remains under investigation.
