(Greendale, Ind.) – The Greendale Redevelopment Commission has continued its partnership with Ivy Tech Community College to provide scholarships for Lawrenceburg High School students participating in the Ivy Manufacturing dual-enrollment program.

Ivy Tech Lawrenceburg Chancellor Mark Graver accepted a scholarship check of $17,000 this month from the Redevelopment Commission at its September meeting. The scholarships, provided through the Ivy Tech Foundation, will cover the costs of tuition, books, and other fees for the high school students.

“These scholarships are investment in our local students and the future of our regional workforce,” said Al Abdon, Executive Director of the Greendale Redevelopment Commission. “We believe it is important to introduce students to the career opportunities provided by our local employers.”

Ivy Manufacturing is a program offered at the College’s Lawrenceburg campus and Batesville site that introduces students to high-demand, well-paying careers in advanced manufacturing. Students are dual enrolled in high school and Ivy Tech and earn college credit through courses at Ivy Tech. Lawrenceburg High School juniors and seniors attend classes at Ivy Tech as part of their regular schedule.

“On behalf of Ivy Tech, the Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation, and our students, we are extremely grateful for the continued generous funding provided by the Greendale Redevelopment Commission,” Graver said. “These scholarships enable students to gain college experience and earn credit as they look forward to their education and career goals following high school.”

This year marks the third annual scholarship contribution by the Greendale Redevelopment Commission. The success of the program has inspired the commission to continue approving the scholarship funding.
