one thing about paws everyone should know. I went there with the full intent of adopting a dog for my rural home. I live on about 200 acres and needed an outside dog to keep varmints [coons, possums, skunks] out of the yard. any animal that ends up at my place has hit the lottery. the staff was very friendly, 2 ladies got up to help me and smiles from the other 15 or so ladies there. I remarked on our way to the holding area that the dog I chose would have a barn and hay to sleep in. both ladies stopped in their tracks and told me paws dogs had to be kept in the house. the others went from smiling to looking at me like I was a serial killer, and I received lectures from several about how insensitive I was as they showed me the door. embarrassed? you betcha, I was fuming as I headed to my truck. my sister works in kenton co. ky near their shelter. the head of kenton’s shelter called, treated me like a king, let me pick out a dog, spayed and micro chipped and had it delivered to my sisters. I then took star home. free of charge. 4 yrs. later star is part of the family, sleeps where she wants, inside when temperature is below 20. has never run off, which the paws ladies assured me would happen. so excuse me if I never give a dime to dearborn co. paws.
