(Aurora, Ind.) – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle following a road rage incident in Dearborn County.

Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident on Cole Lane in Aurora around 10:55 p.m.on February 9.

Deputies say Nicholas Chase of Florence, and Brittany Smith of Aurora, were involved in a road rage incident that began in Ohio County and spilled into Dearborn County.

Chase was initially behind Smith, who eventually pulled over to let Chase pass. A short time later, Smith got close to Chase’s vehicle to get his license plate number. At that time, Chase stopped in the middle of Cole Lane, and both drivers exited their respective vehicles.

Deputies say the two drivers and two passengers were in the middle of the roadway when a southbound vehicle was unable to avoid striking Chase.

Air Care was called to the scene, and transported Chase to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
