(Greendale, Ind.) – P.A.W.S. will be holding its first 5K competitive Bark-N- Run/Walk fundraiser on Saturday, September 13, 2014.
Developed by marketing students at the Indiana University East Lawrenceburg campus, the event will raise money to support P.A.W.S, Dearborn County’s non-profit animal shelter.
The race will start and end at Greendale Cabin, 827 Nowlin Avenue. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9:00 a.m., rain or shine. The pre-registration fee is $20 and includes a shirt. Entries must be postmarked by Monday, September 1. Registration on race day increases to $25.
There will also be a free 1-mile non-competitive walk, where the owners can bring their dogs.
“During the past three years, our dedicated team has improved the lives of 4,400 lost, unwanted or abandoned dogs and cats in Dearborn County. With your support, we will assist many more animals and unite them with their forever homes,” says Sandy Carley, president of P.A.W.S.
The 5K walk and run divisions will be broken down by gender and age: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
Awards or ribbons will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each age group broken down by runners or walkers, and then by male or female.
“Bark-N-Run provides a great opportunity for the community to come together for fun, exercise, and to support a very important cause,” said Steve Lampert, Greendale’s city manager.
