Phone Scam Reported In Boone County

(Boone County, Ky.) – Boone County residents are being warned of a phone scam that is active within the county.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office says it has received numerous complaints about individuals posing as Sheriff’s deputies.

The scammers are telling residents they must pay a fee for missing jury duty or some other legal process, or else they will be arrested.

The Sheriff’s Office says the scammers are very educated on legal terms, and sound very convincing.

Boone County residents are urged not to give out any personal or banking information over the phone.
