Police Detail Cedar Grove Carjacking; Female Suspect Still On The Run

carjacking-graphic-08252014(Cedar Grove, Ind.) – A female hitchhiker attempted to rob a Good Samaritan driver before ultimately carjacking another driver at gunpoint Monday.

Eagle 99.3 first told you of the robbery and carjacking.

A male driver had reportedly picked up a female hitchhiker on U.S. 52 near Holland Road, about a mile west of Cedar Grove around 3:36 p.m., the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. While travelling east on U.S. 52, the woman brandished a gun and attempted to rob the driver.

The male victim pulled off to the side of the highway  near Cedar Grove and exited his vehicle with his keys. He flagged down another driver for help.

The woman ordered the second driver out of his vehicle. When he got out, she got in and fled.

The stolen vehicle was located a short time later abandoned on Little Cedar Road off of U.S. 52. Police brought K9 units to search the area, but they could not locate the suspect.

Deputies said one of the carjacking victims was treated for minor injuries after being struck by the woman driving the stolen vehicle.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is now seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed a female hitchhiker in the area Monday. Call the sheriff’s department at (765) 647-4138.
