The search for a missing woman ended tragically on Monday in Whitewater Township, Hamilton County.

A car was found wrecked into a utility pole on Cilley Road near Kilby Road around 2:00 in the afternoon. Inside, 29-year-old Jena Nicole Higgins, of Colerain, was dead in the passenger seat.

Higgins, a mother of four according to various media reports, had been reported missing by her family on Sunday evening.

Police suspect Higgins was riding in the car with a friend she had met at a bar in Cleves sometime Saturday night. That driver lost control of the Pontiac sedan and wrecked off Cilley Road early Sunday morning. The car impacted trees and a utility pole.

The driver fled the scene, apparently leaving Higgins alone in the wreckage about 30 feet off the road, out of view from other drivers passing by.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s investigators say a person of interest has been identified, but that person’s name has not been released. Drugs and alcohol are believed to be factors in the wreck.

The wreck remains under investigation.

To the family, sorry for your loss. To the driver that fled the accident scene, shame on you for not standing up like a man and trying to help your friend. You are a bottom feeder and deserve to be put away.
